Dr. Uy is board-certified in internal medicine. He was born and raised in the Philippines and he received his medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center College of Medicine in the Philippines. He completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at New York Downtown Hospital (NYU affiliated program). He subsequently spent the next 4 years in Oneida, Tennessee initially working at an out-patient clinic and later as a full-time hospitalist until 2003 when he moved to Northern Virginia. He initially joined a multi-specialty group in Falls Church and later ventured out in the Shirlington/Alexandria area where he has been in practice since.
He was named a top doctor for the Washingtonian magazine in 2014 and Washington Consumer’s Checkbook in the past years.
He believes in establishing long-term therapeutic relationships with his patients that are based on trust, and mutual respect. Special interests include management of hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.
During his free time, he enjoys the theater, spending time with his family and playing badminton.
