Dr. Gerald P. Corcoran was born and raised in Massachusetts and earned a Bachelor of Science from Boston College. He further earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington. He served in the United States Navy as an Intern at Saint Albans Naval Hospital New York, and as a Resident at Jacksonville Naval Hospital in Florida.
While stationed overseas at Naval Station Hospital Argentina, Newfoundland, he was made Commanding Officer delivering Family Medicine, Obstetrics, Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Surgical Services to all military personnel and dependents, using the skills needed to care for patients of any age in any area of the world.
Dr. Corcoran has been a Clinical Instructor and Associate Professor in Family Practice at all four of the Medical Schools in Massachusetts, namely UMass, Harvard, Boston University and Tufts, as well as being a Charter Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.
Dr. Corcoran came to Needham acquiring the practice of Allen Morrissey, MD who had practiced in Needham since 1958. Over the years, Dr. Corcoran expanded Needham Family Practice opening new offices in Needham, Dedham and Westwood and has now consolidated the practice to the current location in the center of downtown Needham.
