Howard P. Zahalsky, MD received his undergraduate degree from Brown University in 1990. He earned an MD from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he was cited for academic excellence.
Dr. Zahalsky completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Dr. Zahalsky has been practicing medicine in Arlington, Virginia for 18 years. He is on the staff of Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. Dr. Zahalsky has been in private practice since 1997. He has been responsible for resident education on the wards and in the ICU, and has extensive experience in geriatrics. Dr. Zahalsky has an established nursing home practice as well, and was the medical consultant for Emeritus assisted living community for 15 years.
Dr. Zahalsky has served as chairman and vice-chairman of the Division of Primary Care at Virginia Hospital Center. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor and training physician for medical students and nurse practitioners at Georgetown University.
Dr. Zahalsky has a strong interest and ability in clinical research and is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of medical problems.
Dr. Zahalsky is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Zahalsky is a five-year winner of the Vitals.com Patients’ Choice Award and the Compassionate Doctor Certification. He is also a member of the Society of Northern Virginia.
