Dr. Jessica Harnisch-Boyd moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2019 with her husband and two dogs after years of being far away from family. For their education, they moved from Southern California to Georgia (for graduate school) to Maine (for medical school). She and her husband were thrilled to move to Coeur d’Alene to be close to parents, grandparents, and start a family of their own. They had their first child in 2021, and are expecting their second in October 2023.
Dr. Harnisch-Boyd completed her residency at the Kootenai Clinic Family Medicine Residency Program – where she met Dr. Brittany Burns. She is thrilled at the opportunity to work with Dr. Burns again, as well as the dynamic Coeur Vitality team to comprehensively take care of her patients.
What Dr. Harnisch-Boyd looks forward to most is spending more time with patients at Coeur Vitality than what is experienced at other practices. The typical family medicine clinic is a revolving door of 15- 20 minute appointments – which can deliver inadequate care, and frustrate everyone involved (patient and physician). One of the main reasons she became a Family Medicine Physician was to prevent disease and reduce disease burden amongst her patients; therefore, she is looking forward to spending more time with her patients and working toward the common goal of finding health by focusing on health behaviors.
One of the other areas of passion for Dr. Harnisch-Boyd is caring for expectant mothers and their young families. She continues to practice non-surgical obstetrics, and is part of the OB faculty at Kootenai Family Medicine Residency. She looks forward to adding an obstetric service to Coeur Vitality in February 2024 – when she returns to practice after her own maternity leave!
