A note from Dr. Haggerty
Patients often ask me, “Dr. Haggerty, why did you transition from your previous practice to this new model?” There are several reasons I made this change, and I am happy to share them with you.
First, I believe preventative care cannot be effectively delivered in 10 to 15-minute increments. It is unrealistic to expect patients and physicians to address 12 months of health concerns, questions, conditions, and medications in a 12-minute annual physical.
Second, patients should not feel that there are barriers to care. A phone call to your doctor’s office should not feel like calling the DMV, a bank, or an insurance company.
Third, personal care and preventative health should be tailored to the individual, not the population.
Fourth, I care about you as a patient and what is best for you—not what is best for a medical group. Preventative care begins with a conversation about your goals for wellness and how we can achieve them together.
In my practice, that conversation will not begin with, “Here, take this medication, and we’ll see you in six months.” Instead, we strive to build a partnership with you, focusing on both preventative health and advocacy as you navigate the complex healthcare system. We welcome you to join us and experience a truly personalized approach to your health and well-being.
