Dr. Crews has always loved the diversity and joy that comes from taking care of the whole person. His training at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle has provided him with the ability to see patients for a variety of problems as well as to help them prevent illnesses so that they can live their most joyful and fulfilling life.
Dr. Crews continues to take care of the full scope of outpatient primary care including newborns, adolescents, adult and geriatric medical problems. He enjoys the long-term nature of the relationships. He finds it important to take care of things that can be done in the office locally such as joint infections, skin evaluation and cancer removals as well as counselling and long term preventive health planning. He has always enjoyed making diabetic care easier and better for patients so that they think about illness less and life more. By taking care of many things in an excellent manner locally, the savings of time, emotional energy and cost to patients are enormous.
Dr. Crews’ undergraduate studies began at the University of Montana in Missoula and then his final three years were spent at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he completed his major in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and continued to compete at the collegiate level in wrestling. He also enjoyed participating in both music and writing while in college. He then attended the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle where he earned his Medical Degree and then returned to Billings to be accepted as a member of the first Family Medicine Residency program in the state of Montana, which has focused on training physicians to serve rural populations here in our own state. Dr. Crews also served as Chief Resident of his residency in his final year of training and continues to provide training for medical residents in his office. Dr. Crews then returned to his home in the Bitterroot Valley in 1999 and has been practicing in the town of Stevensville for the past 23 years. He has been an active member of the medical staff in Hamilton, MT at Marcus Daly Hospital, and an active member of the community as a coach for many sports teams including high school and junior high wrestling, as well as acting for the community theatre and developing and managing a competitive local triathlon for many years.
Outside of the office Kirk is an avid outdoorsman, biker, and fisherman and artist. He enjoys his large local family, wife and kids as well as any chance to be outside throughout the year. He is a terminal sports fan, and enjoys watching any competitor give their all as they face the challenges of their sport or activity. His greatest passion is helping people to appreciate what we all have here in the Bitterroot Valley and to help them use recreation to promote their own mental and physical wellbeing. Dr. Crews believes that we have achieved our best lives when our physical, emotional and social health are all actively evaluated and supported. He is excited to help you live your best life and continue his long-term commitment to the health of those with whom he shares this wonderful place.
