A note from Dr. Saltman

I have dedicated my professional efforts to incorporating the latest medical science achievements into my every day practice recommendations. I truly believe that practicing cutting edge medicine promotes longevity and improves quality of life. However, it is not enough to simply offer this care - it is imperative that I educate my patients so that they understand the rationale and become committed to this approach. State of the art medical practice should not be reacting to problems. It should be proactive to prevent problems. This is the daily goal of my efforts and the efforts of my wonderful staff that assist me in providing personalized care to my patients. This incredible practice model allows me to achieve these goals with my patients. As importantly, it allows me to interact with them in the most personal and empathetic fashion imaginable. My patients have truly become my friends. I am committed to coordinating all aspects of care, both in-patient and out-patient, including personal discussions with all treating physicians. My friendly staff is committed to personalized service and when patients call the office, they will speak with a live person and not a voice menu or answering machine. Appointments start on time and I see all patients personally, with coverage by another medical doctor in the rare event that I’m out of town.

Robert J. Saltman, MD graduated from Yale University in 1976 summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. He first came to St. Louis to attend Washington University School of Medicine, earning his MD degree in 1980. Internship and residency in internal medicine were completed at Barnes Hospital in 1983, followed by subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Metabolism also at Barnes Hospital/Washington University.

He served as Co-Chief Resident of the Internal Medicine Service at Barnes Hospital in 1985 and co-edited the 25th edition of the Washington University Manual of Medical Therapeutics.

He is currently board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. Awards include the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Community Scholar Award and yearly selection to Best Doctors in America since 2001.

Dr. Saltman has been in practice in St. Louis for the past 35 years and has dedicated his efforts toward integrating subspecialty consultation in Diabetes and Endocrinology with primary care. His goal has always been and will always be to bring the latest advancements in these fields to his patients with an emphasis on preventative medicine.

He currently is on staff at Barnes-Jewish West County and Missouri Baptist Hospitals.

Dr. Saltman is married to his wife of 42 years, Linda Eichler Saltman who is also the office manager and has three grown children and three grandchildren.

Practice information

Dr. Saltman has been serving the community since 1986. Our office is part of the campus of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Parking is conveniently located on the lot adjacent to our building. Our suite is easily accessible on the main level.
