Dr. Tom Etges, MD, has been Board-certified in Family Physician since 1992, offering comprehensive outpatient primary care with an integrative approach. He takes the time to get to know his patients as whole individuals, combining Western medicine with acupuncture, nutritional, lifestyle therapies, and regenerative therapies including prolotherapy and PRP. His clinical interests include gastrointestinal issues, acute and chronic pain, women’s health, allergies, stress management, mental health support, and musculoskeletal medicine.

Early in his career, it became apparent that additional modalities were key in assisting patients manage their acute and chronic pain, as well as many chronic medical conditions not always answered by Western medicine alone. Dr. Etges began his training in medical acupuncture with the Helms Medical Institute in 2001, then gained insight later into functional medicine with the Institute of Functional Medicine expanding his exploration of the underlying root causes for illness. Both were key in looking for “the problem behind the problem.”

Additional training in regenerative medicine was pursued finding that a combination of physical therapy, osteopathy, nutritional support and acupuncture was not always enough to address chronic recurrent musculoskeletal conditions seen in orthopedics and sports medicine. Dr. Etges uses musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided injection therapies with PRP with training received from the Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation [HHPF] and MSKUS.

Dr. Etges is a senior faculty preceptor with Helms Medical Institute and the Acus Foundation, teaching acupuncture to civilian and military healthcare providers since 2011.
