Lisa C. Capaldini, MD has practiced internal medicine in San Francisco for the past 22 years. Dr. Capaldini decided she was going to be a doctor when she was just 5 years old. Her inspiration was a female doctor on one of her grandmother’s many soap operas. The image of a resourceful, intelligent woman, dedicated to her patients’ well-being is one she embodies in her many roles as a physician.

Above all, Lisa Capaldini has embraced the role of Primary Care Doctor, integrating preventative care with episodic care, linking patients to respected specialists, and caring for patients throughout the adult health spectrum.

In addition, Dr. Capaldini is a nationally respected HIV specialist, a UCSF-based educator and the Medical Director of a neighborhood hospice, Maitri.

Widely acknowledged as a patient-oriented clinician, Dr. Capaldini focuses on translating medical advances into individualized, customized care, linking the science of medicine with the art of medicine.

The recipient of many honors, including community service awards and being made an honorary Nurse Practitioner by the UCSF School of Nursing, she considers the highest honor to be the trust her patients have placed in her.

Outside the office she is passionate about her animals (dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, horses), early music (she is an amateur baroque cellist) and intellectual and cultural history (she was a History of Ideas major at Williams College). She remains an avid and critical reader.

Lisa’s goal is that each patient feels confident that their problems and concerns have been effectively addressed, complemented by a heavy dose of compassion.
