Dr. McManus was born in Washington D.C. and has made the Commonwealth of Virginia his home for many years, hence. He graduated Summa cum Laude with a dual major of Chemistry/Classics from Bowdoin College, awarded with the honor of Phi Beta Kappa in his junior year. He earned his degree of Medical Doctor at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, receiving the recognition of Alpha Omega Alpha, an honor bestowed upon those with excellence in the profession and dedication to the art of healing. He completed his medical training at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has since been a longtime resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia, starting in a group practice, Fredericksburg Internal Medicine, before transitioning to his own solo practice, McManus & Associates, Internal Medicine in 1999. Dr. McManus has remained dedicated to his alma mater, mentoring multiple students from the University of Virginia, and recently named the Outstanding Alumnus of the School of Medicine in 2022. Locally, he has been feted with several awards for leadership and service, in addition to being named by his peers as a Northern Virginia Top Doctor for multiple years running. Dr. McManus practices personalized medicine, with primary focus on maintaining the quality of life through Primary Care and prevention. He is a firm believer that the best physician exhibits the triple “A” character traits – Affability, Availability, and Ability.
