The Future of Concierge Medicine

Concierge medicine has quickly taken the medical world by storm, and for good reason: More and more doctors are feeling burned out, no longer enthusiastic about the traditional medical care model. If this describes you, you may be wondering, is concierge medicine the answer? Is it a viable long-term option?

Here’s what SignatureMD affiliated physician Dr. Joel Meshulam had to say about the future of concierge medicine:

As Joel describes, as a care provider and business owner, he is optimistic about the future of concierge medicine:

So much of what we do in medicine is trying to anticipate the future and prepare for it. As a business owner, I think any self-employed person has to be thinking about, what next? How do I stay ahead of the curve? How do I ride the wave instead of getting drowned by the wave? In terms of concierge care, I feel very strongly that it is still a relatively new concept, and a young concept, but it is gaining momentum.

I think that the reason that concierge medicine is gaining momentum is there are certainly a cluster of physicians that are unhappy with the status quo

They realize, as I did, that it was unmanageable and untenable. Something had to give, and to those of us in medicine who aren’t ready to throw it all in and become employed or quit, this really does present a very viable alternative.
