Born in Saskatchewan, Canada and raised in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Received my Bachelor of Science (Honors Genetics) with honors from the University of Alberta. Graduated from medical school with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan. I also did my Family Medicine residency from the University of Saskatchewan. I went to medical school and Family Medicine residency with Dr Riske and after we were done with our education, we started our own Family Medicine clinic. We were young and idealistic and believed in a style of family medicine where we took time with our patients and listened to them, which was very unusual in Canadian medicine. After 5 years of this we were faced with the decision of either changing to a more traditional Canadian style of medicine or moving somewhere that would allow us to continue to take our time with our patients. In January of 1993 we opened Hayden Lake Family Physicians here in Idaho which has allowed me to continue practice the style of family medicine that I believe in. I still very much believe in the model where it is important to take time, listen and partner with my patients to help them get as much “quality life” as possible.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with family, golfing, boating or working in my yard.
