Lawrence K. Monahan, MD, FACP is committed to each and every one of his members. Dr. Lawrence Monahan was born and raised in Manhattan, Kansas where he received a BA from Kansas State University and an MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He came to Roanoke for his medical internship and subsequently completed his Internal Medicine Residency in Kansas City. Dr. Monahan has practiced Internal Medicine in Roanoke since 1974 and founded Jefferson Internal Medicine Associates in 1980, where he is dedicated to the finest traditions of the patient-physician relationship.
Dr. Monahan is a respected physician, as well as an excellent teacher and role model for medical students, interns, residents, nurse practitioner and PA students. He is a Full Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at The University of Virginia School of Medicine and the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), he has received the American Medical Association’s Continuing Medical Education Award every year of his practice.
Dr. Monahan enjoys spending time with his family and the study and performance of music.
